Montoya Wins at the Glen

It has been 113 races since his only win in sprint cup. That win was also on a road course in Sonoma during his rookie year. The wins that most expected to come from this world touted driver haven\'t materialized. I am a long suffering fan of Juan Pablo. It was great being his fan in CART or F1 as he really got results and wins in open wheel. But in heavy NASCAR, he just hasn\'t been able to find the checkered flag.

2010 was expected to be a great year for him after making the chase last year. Try horrible season. If it weren\'t for bad luck he would have none. He would gladly choose none. I was thinking he couldn\'t even beat these guys on road courses anymore. Where was the old Montoya? I think he may be back. His win was impressive. Marcos was faster, but at the expense of his brakes. Juan on the other hand kept it smooth and had brakes at the end. A strategy he surely learned from last year.

NASCAR needs pedigree drivers to boost it\'s credibility. Beating F1 and Indycar elite only adds to the stature of guys like Jimmy Johnson. But only if these other series aces can actually come to grips with this type car. I hope Montoya can do more now like win his first oval race in this series. At least I now have reason to watch again.
